Annotating
Annotating is a way for the reader to better internalize the material at hand. It allows people to enter the head of the writer with ease and decode what is their message and why did they write this. I often annotate on excerpts that I either agree with or disagree with heavily. This allows me to further validate my thoughts or possibly rethink them. I try to put myself in the writer's point of view and see where he/she is coming from. Often people annotate important or interesting pieces from the text. If a message or idea is brought up multiple times, I will annotate it for its importance to the author. Clearly they are bringing this thing up again and again for a reason they want to get across. Annotating is tool readers can utilize to better condense and understand the writing that is in front of them.
