Interview Reflection

Interview Reflection Coming into this assignment, I had a few ideas of people I wanted to interview. I had recently switched to being an accounting major and knew that was the field I wanted to focus on for this project. Among the accountants in my area, there was one in particular I wished to work with. Mrs. Smith was that person. She originally found her way into accounting working a dead end job. Then, she applied to a graduate's assistantship program at Temple University. This opened up the doors for her professionally because she was able to pursue a masters degree in Taxation at Temple, which they paid for as well. This was the opportunity she needed because it has led to her working strictly in the taxation department for her entire career. This focus also allowed her to establish the perfect work-life balance that she wished to achieve, especially with plans to have children in the near future. She now is a manager in the taxation department of a big ten public accountin...

Interview Analysis

Interview Analysis:     With regards to Jonah Hill, some interesting things can happen in an interview. To start, a great question that can generate a great, in depth response was David Letterman asked him about his past projects. I've noticed that bringing up peoples past work, jobs, or experiences typically merits a good response. This gives the interviewee a chance to talk about themselves to the audience and get a little settled in. It can open the floor for a good joke or story that Mr. Letterman wants. Asking people about relationships to other people seem to merit good responses as well. They give their own takes on the person and their work professionally. I feel that in some cases the interviewer should let the interviewee take lead in the direction of the interview. This keeps the 'Jonah Hill' engaged and eager to talk to the audience.

Three Positions that seem interesting

Google Doc: Three Positions that seem interesting to me and why 1. Accounting supervisor for the Govt. of Philadelphia seems interesting to me for a few reasons. To start, I am an accounting major here at PSU, so this is a perfect fit. Also, I love working with people internally and externally. Being a supervisor, allows me to work and interact with many internal people as well as external. This seems like it could potentially be an ideal job. 2. An Accounts receivable representative for Jefferson Hospital seems like an interesting but difficult job. It again works with money and people, which is my cup of tea. Dealing with insurance companies will be a challenge, but one I'd be willing to take on. It can be such a rewarding job working with a hospital. 3. Being an Inventor Flow and Sales facilitator for The Philadelphia Art Museum is another position that is appealing to me. This job tracks inventory in order to maximize sales and profits. That directly applies to people ...
